The McKinley Elementary garden is a continual work-in-progress. Started in 2007, our garden has evolved into a beautiful serene setting.
The 2008/2009 school year brought “The Octopus Garden” mural to our garden. Thanks to
A Reason to Survive or ARTS and local artists, Betsy Schultz, our 2nd graders were able to participate in creating clay fish and letters to come together in this colorful mural. The words that are interwoven throughout the mural come from the IB Program themes that are taught in our curriculum. Check out this article that was published in the Union Tribune Newspaper.
Each grade has their own raised bed in order to plant a variety of flowers, fruits and vegetables. Thanks to all those who have donated both their time and materials to create a fun, vibrant learning setting.
