International Baccalaureate (IB) Primary Years Program
McKinley Elementary is a candidate for authorization for the IB Primary Years Program. This means McKinley teachers receive special training throughout the year to support the principles of the IB program, a curriculum that is taught in schools worldwide.
Description: The International Baccalaureate aims to develop inquiring, knowledgeable and caring young people who help to create a better and more peaceful world through intercultural understanding and respect.
McKinley Elementary provides a standards based program incorporating the program requirements of the International Baccalaureate Organization for the Primary Years. The IB program and mission statement is the umbrella that links all school and community activities. The community theme is “Sharing our Humanity.”
The PTC supports the IB program by assisting with funding for the music, art and Spanish programs, learning opportunities through field trips and assemblies, technology support, campus beautification and materials.
