Once again McKinley’s fearless Coach Charles Lunsford will lead us on a series of outdoor adventures. This is a great opportunity for McKinley families to get together and explore San Diego’s great outdoors.
2012-2013 Outdoor Adventures:
Saturday, October 20th @ 9:30am – Hike Mission Trails. Meet at the Visitors Center (off of Mission Gorge between Golfcrest and Jackson Dr.). Bring water, snacks, comfortable shoes and a sense of adventure and your biggest smile.
Saturday, December 8th @ 9:30am – Bike ride along the San Diego River. Meet at the AAA building parking lot (2440 Hotel Circle North, San Diego, CA 92108 – Take 8 East to Taylor Street Exit). Bring your bike, drinks and some snacks as the excursion winds along the San Diego River to Dog Beach in Ocean Beach. Don’t forget to pack your flip flops!
Saturday, February 9th @ 9:30am – Bike around Mission Bay. Meet at the parking lot adjacent to Bahia Resort (998 West Mission Bay Drive, San Diego, CA 92109) for a scenic bike ride around the perimeter of Mission Bay. Bring snacks, water, and dress in layers, too. Don’t forget your bike!
Saturday, March 9th @ 9:30am – Hike Torrey Pines State Reserve. Meet at the visitor center parking lot (parking pass is $10 – try to carpool) on top of the crest. Bring snacks, water and a camera as the group descends the cliff to the beach below and discover the tide pools filled with crabs & anemones. Help Coach decide on which trail to take.
Saturday, May 11th @ 9:30am – Bike ride along Dana Point. Encourage Summer’s arrival with a bike ride around Mission Bay and through touristy Mission Beach boardwalk. Meet at the parking lot adjacent to Bahia Resort (998 West Mission Bay Drive, San Diego, CA 92109) for the final excursion of the school year. YEAH SUMMER!!
