Home Access for Language Programs
Parents can now access 2 new language programs at home using the following links:
1. Rosetta Stone is a new language program purchased for this school year. Students will be using it in class and at the computer lab and it is also available for use at home: https://mckinleyes.rosettastoneclassroom.com

2. Salsa is Georgia Public Broadcasting’s award-winning Spanish language series for young learners in kindergarten through the third grade. Puppets in familiar stories, digital graphics and animation teach the language:

School Supply Wish Lists
As state and local budgets are slashed, schools are being cut to the quick. When parents and community members can donate school supplies, this frees up budget dollars for the core purpose of our neighborhood schools — Educating our children. In short, any supplies you can donate to the following grade classes are greatly appreciated.
Each student should start the year off with the following suggested items.
• Pencil box (no bigger than 8×5 please)
• 3 packs of thick, beginner size, pencils
• 3 Pink Pearl erasers (large) and 1 package of pencil top erasers
• 1 plastic 2 pocket folder (please only send 1 to class)
• 1 box of 10 Crayola type markers
• 1 box of crayons
• Colored pencils
• 1 highlighter
• Scissors
• 6 glue sticks
We would also appreciate any donations of Kleenex, paper towels, Ziplock Bags (sandwich or gallon size), disinfectant wipes, Bic Flair black felt tip pens and packs of scrapbooking paper. Please remember that these are all suggestions. If you cannot provide any of these items, they will be supplied for your child.

Important Dates for New School Year
Here are a few dates you will want to keep in mind as this school year quickly approaches:
September:
2nd – Kindergarten and New Student Orientation, 9:00 am in the Auditorium. Come and learn more about the upcoming school year including our schedule and what to expect the first day. You will also have an opportunity to learn more about our PTC and hear how you can get involved.
3rd – Class Rosters Posted at 6:00pm. These will be posted by the front door of the school, please remember these may change slightly the first few weeks of school based upon enrollment.
6th – First Day of School. Classes begin promptly at 9:10, please be at school no later than 9:00 to line up.

2011-2012 Kindergarten Play Dates
Come meet incoming McKinley Elementary kindergartners and parents at
the park before school starts! These play dates are a chance for your
child to meet some of their incoming classmates in an informal
setting.

Sunday, August 28 at 4 p.m. at Montclair Park
Sunday, September 11 at 4 p.m. at Montclair Park
