Description: The English Learner Advisory Committee (ELAC) advises the principal and school staff on programs and services for English Learners. All schools with 21 or more students in the English as a Second Language (ESL) program must have an ELAC Committee. ELAC Officers are elected every two years. ELAC is the advisory board to the school on four key issues including the school plan for English Learners, needs assessment, administration of language census, and efforts to raise awareness regarding the importance of attendance.
Additionally, the ELAC Committee hosts events throughout the year such as nacho sales, the multicultural potluck, and the Cinco de Mayo Fiesta and works with the PTC to support events such as Teacher Appreciation Week.
Commitment: The committee meets on the second Wednesday of the month at 9:10 am in the Staff Lounge.
