Facilities and Beautification

Description: The Facilities and Beautification Committee has been formed to create a school, community and School District awareness of our campus needs and school enhancement opportunities.  Our approach will take two very distinct tracks:

- Campus facilities, building upgrades, appurtenances, windows, enhancements, playgrounds, grass areas, etc.
- Site utilization, expansions, reprogramming the site and a joint use park design

Over the last couple of years, we held a very successful design charrette with the school and community stakeholders.  We have garnered comments from the public, neighbors, students and facility on the pros/cons of the McKinley campus.  After these design and program elements were discussed and tabulated into our top ten constraints/opportunities we offered some design application sketches, expansion ideas, site reconfigurations, relocations, walls, signs, fencing options, etc.

Goals: Work on development of the following projects:
- Joint use park
- Landscaping enhancements
- Murals, mosaics, signage
- Grassy play area
- Enhancing the general look of the campus

Commitment:
- Coordinate activities and/or provide support, ideas and comments.
- Take on assignments as time allows for committee support.
- Assist in the implementation of a McKinley design outreach program

Volunteer Opportunities:
- Attend meetings on behalf of the committee
- Assist with community support
- Help coordinate or attended meetings at the school district
- Liaison with the student council, keeping them in the loop
