Have your class make a simple poster or write letters/draw pictures for the cafeteria staff thanking them for all of their hard work. Be creative and make them cute!
See how many High Fives you can give out today. Set a goal as a class or for individuals and see if they can reach it! Students can try to keep track with tally marks, but remember…be gentle!
Have your class make a simple poster or write letters for the nurse and health assistants thanking them for always taking such good care of us. You could decorate with Band-Aids!
Spend 10 or 15 minutes today cleaning up your classroom or an area outside! Let’s make our school beautiful!
Take 15 or 20 minutes today reading with a friend. If you already have reading buddies, use them. If you don’t, partner up with a class and read!
Thanks! — The McKinley Student Council

It’s time for the 54th Annual McKinley Variety Show, and we are looking for students, teachers, and even parents to participate in the show. This year’s Variety Show will be on Thursday, March 5th, at Lincoln High School.
AN INFORMATION MEETING WILL BE HELD TOMORROW Wednesday, January 21st. 4:00 to 5:00 in the auditorium. We will discuss important dates, behavior, getting the music, start singing our song, etc.
Try-outs will be after school on Monday, January 26th (after school by arrangement). Although we are calling these “try outs” no one will be turned away. We just want to see what folks would like to do…..or if you want to be in the show and don’t know what you’d like to do that’s fine as well. Just let us know and we’ll be happy to work with you.
If you do know what you’d like to do, please let us know what you’ll be doing (e.g., singing, dancing, acting, playing an instrument, etc.) and the name of the song/act.

The McKinley Parent Teacher Club offers a variety of Afterschool Enrichment opportunities on Thursday afternoons for 8 weeks this Winter 2015. Classes are one hour long, starting at 1:00 pm and will be offered in 2 sessions. Prime Time students are welcome; however, those that are enrolled in after-school tutoring may not always be able to join. This year we are piloting a Winter program in addition to Fall and Spring.
Winter applications were sent home on Friday, January 9th. Applications will be accepted with payment through Jan. 16th, 2015.
Volunteers will be accepting applications in front of the office after school each day this week until 4:15 pm (until 1:30 pm on Thursday). An ASE volunteer will also be accepting applications on Wednesday (1/14) & Thursday (1/15) evenings 5:15-6:00 pm. Credit cards will be accepted in person during these times. Otherwise you can pay with a check made out to “McKinley School Foundation” and deposit them in the “PTA” box in the front office.
